Reproducibility is more than a benchmark of scientific quality; it is the bedrock of trust, credibility, and meaningful progress in research. It confirms discoveries, corrects errors, and creates a foundation others can build upon. Whether through reproducing results using the same data or replicating methods with new datasets, reproducibility is essential for research to make a lasting, positive impact.

But ensuring reproducibility is not always simple. Across disciplines, it remains a challenge that, if left unaddressed, threatens the reliability and usefulness of scientific knowledge. Addressing this requires more than just new policies or tools. It calls for a shared commitment from researchers, institutions, funders, journals, and policymakers.

This is where Ten Tales of Reproducibility comes in.

Developed through the Horizon Europe-funded OSIRIS project (Open Science to Increase Reproducibility in Science), we bring together ten inspiring, real-world stories of individuals and institutions working to make reproducible science a reality.

These stories are the result of two years of OSIRIS research: a systematic scoping review, 60 interviews with researchers across Europe, and in-depth discussions with funders, journals, institutions, and community-led initiatives. We examined what is being done, what works, what doesn’t, and what still needs to change.

Each of the ten featured cases highlights how different parts of the research system are stepping up. From reforming journal practices and rethinking funding models, to grassroots movements led by early-career researchers, these Tales show that real progress is not only possible, it’s already happening.

And while the technical side of reproducibility is important, these stories remind us that culture matters just as much. Behind every shift in practice is a story of people: their choices, values, and persistence to do things differently and better.

Ten Tales of Reproducibility is more than a publication. It’s an invitation to reflect, to learn, and to act. Whether you’re teaching a class, drafting a policy, leading a research group, or starting your first project, these stories offer something to take with you. They prove that change is within reach and that together, we can shape a more transparent, trustworthy future for science!

Dive into these inspiring real-world stories and see how reproducibility is being reimagined across the research landscape, one tale at a time. Enjoy reading!

Share the Tales, Spark the Conversation

Ten Tales of Reproducibility is perfect for use in training sessions, workshops, or as a conversation starter among colleagues. We invite everyone, from PhD students to policymakers, to read, share, and build on these stories. Use them to inspire your peers, to challenge your practices, or to open new dialogue within your institution. Let’s work together to turn these tales into action and make reproducibility a shared responsibility and a lasting reality.
