How can we ensure that scientific research is not only innovative but also trustworthy, transparent, and reproducible? This question lies at the heart of the OSIRIS project (Open Science to Increase Reproducibility in Science). OSIRIS is an EU-funded initiative addressing the ongoing challenges of research reproducibility across Europe.

In a seminar hosted by Consilium Scientific on Thursday, July 24th at 5:00 PM London Time, Dr. Nicholas J. DeVito from the University of Oxford (UOXF) introduced the OSIRIS project and explored the critical issues at stake. As a postdoctoral researcher and Research Integrity Lead at the Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science, Dr. DeVito offers an insightful overview of how OSIRIS is tackling the so-called “reproducibility crisis” with evidence-based interventions.

This seminar takes viewers through key themes such as defining reproducibility across disciplines, assessing the current state of research integrity in Europe, and testing practical solutions for funders and journals. Drawing on findings from the TOP Factor Project and a scoping review of reproducibility interventions, the presentation highlights both the complexity of the issue and the need for coordinated, cross-sectoral action.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where Dr. DeVito responded to audience questions on the future of open science and the practical steps needed to embed reproducibility into the research ecosystem.
