about UOXF
The Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science at Oxford is a mixed team of software developers, clinicians and traditional academic researchers all pooling skills and knowledge to advance a range of topics including: innovative informatics methods; variation in clinical care; behaviour change; research integrity; policy analysis; and more. We produce academic research papers, but we also use the same skills to build live, interactive, data-driven tools and services; as well as real, practical policy insights on how data can be used to improve lives. Our projects include the TrialsTracker, OpenPrescribing, and OpenSafely. We look forward to bringing our passion and experience for creating and promoting open and reproducible science to the OSIRIS project, mostly in Work Package 2.
Nicholas De Vito
Nick is a postdoctoral researcher at the Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science. He leads the Institutes work on research integrity covering topics in health policy, transparency, metaresearch, and open science. Nick is the main contributor to OSIRIS from Oxford primarily covering projects in Work Package 2. He looks forward to using his background in mixed-methods research to contribute throughout the project. Nick received his doctorate from the University of Oxford, his Masters in Public health from the Yale School of Public Health, and his Bachelor of Science for Cornell University.
Ben Goldacre
Ben is a doctor, academic, writer, broadcaster and Director of the Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science. He trained in medicine at Oxford and UCL, in psychiatry at the Maudsley, and in epidemiology at LSHTM. His academic and policy work is in informatics, epidemiology and evidence based medicine, where he works on various problems including variation in care, better uses of routinely collected electronic health data, evidence-based social policy, access to clinical trial data, efficient trial design, and retracted papers. He serves in an advisory and support capacity to the OSIRIS project.
