Science and baking have more in common than you might think! In our new article published on December 23, 2024, in PLOS Biology, we demonstrate how baking Christmas tree meringues can help explain the importance of reproducibility in research.

This paper follows two events organized by the OSIRIS team in Leuven, Belgium and Rennes, France that helped bridge the gap between the general public and the concept of reproducibility in science. Through interactive events, we invited participants to follow recipes and experience the challenges of achieving consistent results. This hands-on approach made complex scientific concepts like transparency, reporting guidelines, and reproducible methods more relatable and understandable to the public (read our blog detailing one of the events HERE).

Reproducibility isn’t just about repeating experiments—it’s about trust. By demystifying science and facilitating discussions, we aim to build stronger connections between researchers and the communities they serve. Let’s work together to make science more engaging, transparent, simple, and fun!
